Inaugurated in 2019 with a first cohort of 280 participants, the Bolt is a relatively new fell race. It is a revival of the old Baslow fell race and it takes place on a new, beautiful and challenging course that skirts the Baslow skyline. Routes are well marked & marshalled and therefore suitable for all levels of experience.

In more detail

The Baslow Bolt is a 13.2km Category BM (medium distance, medium altitude gain) FRA mandated mixed terrain fell race through woodland and pasture on paths and trails with minimum road running. The route climbs away from Baslow through fields towards Hassop then proceeds along the beautiful ridge path through Bank Wood and Bramley Wood (a little known local gem). It then drops down to the River Derwent and Calver/ Curbar before climbing up to Baslow Edge (with its fabulous views across both the Dark & White Peak) through a mixture of limestone trail and gritstone before descending Bar Road into Baslow and the finish. The total elevation gain is approximately 400m. For further details, see the route map. The event is licensed and run as an FRA (Fell Running Association) event and thus subject to FRA rules & regulations. This means that runners should be prepared to run with the FRA Mandatory Minimum Kit.
Participants are kindly requested to complete the event registration form. The total number of participants will be capped this year at 400 through our on-line entry system. To secure your place we advise registering at your earliest convenience once on-line registration opens at 10.00am on Saturday 19th October.
All proceeds from the event go to Baslow St Anne’s Primary School PTFA and Baslow St Anne’s Church buildings restoration fund. This year we are also pleased to support Blythe House Hospice (providing hospice care at home across the Derbyshire Dales - formerly Helen's Trust) and Water Aid (an international organisation determined to make clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene normal for everyone, everywhere).
